Pleasant Memories.

I was playing a game called "song pop" against one of my cousins last night. That song by 4 non blondes came up and it immediately reminded me of one of my other cousins, Justin.  Just to give you a little background on Justin, he was fun.  Not really get into trouble fun, even though I'm sure he got into his share of trouble, we had silly kid fun.

One summer he came to the fair with my family.  I don't remember which one.  My parents had one of those long station wagons that had the extra seat in the back that folded up and down.  Justin and I were in the middle set of seats.  We were about 10ish at the time and were cutting up like 10-year-olds do.  He always had a way of making me laugh uncontrollably.  That was the year that 4 non blondes came out with their one hit wonder "What's Going On".  Justin belted it out at the top of his lungs and was pretty spot on with his rendition.  That was one of the many times Justin had me laughing so hard, I was laughing, crying, and hurting as all at the same time.

He had cystic fibrosis.  He had a lung transplant when he was 20.  He died a few years later.  Growing up, he was one of my closest friends. He was a golf buddy.  We even got to go to college for a year together.   I miss him so much!  I think of him so often.  Even more so now.  My niece was born with the same genetic abnormalities.  She has the same tenacity that Justin had.  I know that, just like Justin, she will have a very full life.
