Southern Fried Sunday: Easter Trix Treats

This post is the beginning of my Southern Fried Sundays posts.  I'm going to try to post a recipe that I've tried every Sunday.  This week I'm on Spring Break from work.  My son and I will be going to visit my family this afternoon.  We'll be spending a couple of days at my grandma's house with my Momma, Sister, Nieces, and Grandparents.  Maybe a few other people will join in too.  The more the merrier.  I'll have some down-south recipes and also some that I've come up with myself.

Today's recipe is from a pic I saw on Pinterest.  I thought "I could do that without the recipe".  Well, it's not exactly like the rice crispy treats.  Here's how I made them.

1 bag of mini marshmallows
3 Tb butter
9 cups of Trix

That's right.  I used 9 cups of Trix.  I can't really explain why more Trix are needed.

Melt your butter in a large pot on low heat.  While your butter is melting, grease a 9x13 pan.  Once the butter is melted, pour in the marshmallows.  Stir the marshmallows on low heat until completely melted.  Make sure you leave it on low heat. Be patient.  They will melt.  You don't want your marshmallows to burn.  When they've been completely melted, add your Trix and stir, stir, stir.  Make sure everything is mixed together then dump it in your pan.  You can try to use a spoon or spatula to spread it out in the pan.  If you do that, be sure to spray it down with cooking spray.  I wasn't very successful with this method.  So, I washed my hands again, slathered butter all over them, and proceeded to spread it out with my hands.  It was much easier that way. After you've spread it out in the pan, let it sit for a couple of hours to make sure it sets.  When you cut them, you may want to use a sharp knife and clean it off after every line that's cut.  This will help you have clean cuts.

Here's what I came up with.

As you can see, I made some rice crispy treats too.

What are you making for Easter?
